1994 Z28

I'm looking into buying a very nice '94 Z28. 83,000 miles. Black on black. Leather interior. Lowered on Eibach springs with BMR suspension. 16inch forged Eagle alloy rims. Xenon body kit. Functional ram air hood. GM performance axle with 3:23 gears. Full line MSD ignition(6a control box, GM blaster coil, 8.5mm superconductor wires), Ported and polished throttle body with SLP air foil. Descreened MAF sensor. Flowmaster catback with gutted cats. 160 thermostat. March performance underdrive pulley. B&M transgo shiftkit.

How much horsepower should I be running? The owner says around 320hp to the wheels, but I'd like some other opinions. What do ya'll think? Good buy? How much hp?

Sounds nice but the HP estimate is a bit high. Is it an auto or M6? And, we don't know if it's a good buy since you didn't post an asking price.

You don't put shift kits on a m6 so its Auto. There are not a lot of power adders so I'd say around 275 to the wheels through an auto. All it really has is a catback, underdrive, and a TB which being ported doesnt do much on a stock motor. MAF descreen is fairly pointless, same with the 160 tstat when it comes to dyno power.

With those mods, there is no way it is making that amount of power at the wheels. For the price, I would say it is a pretty good deal assuming the car is in good overall shape.

thats a damn good deal for 4600 considering what it comes with. I bought my 93 bone stock w/ 99k on it for 4100. It was in great shape tho, not sure what shape the car you are looking at is in.

I wouldn't pay more than $4k, but that's just me. Other than that it sounds good. 94-95 were the best years for the LT1.

Why would you say 94-95 were the best years? 95 didn't even get hardened pushrods only 93-94.

Stock PR are good for just that, stock valvetrain. Anything more and they need to be replaced. I haven't seen any bent pushrods from any year on stock cam and RR.

I was referring to the OBDI, not having to deal with emissions, vented opti for the 95, better rods (IIRC), etc. Just personal opinion, not necessarily fact.

96-97 got vented opti as well, OBII is much better for emissions as you don't need to go on a sniffer, all I got was a tune and I am running no cats, no egr and no air and I passed emissions without turning a wrench. A lot of people run stock PR's w/ 1.6 RR's and LT4 springs as long as they are SA it doesn't matter. As far as the rods..who knows.

Like I said, it was just my opinion. I didn't want to start a debate.

The tune does help. Call and see if you can get updates for it for less than getting a new tune.

The only real performance mod is the pully and exahust. It doesnt have headers or anything...
I would think that its prolly 270-80 to the wheels, it should be close to a stockish Z28 with just those mods.
