1993 Programming

I think I know but I thought I would ask anyhow...

My 93 Z I cannot buy a programmer for can I, like a Superchips or Hypertech? I have to send a part to a ECM writer correct?
If so what kind of gains can you expect and who would you reccommend going to?

93s have a removeable chip, so all the Chips I have ever heard of for 93s "piggy back" the stock chip.

Alvin from Pcmforless just did a dyno tune day I organized for the Speed Density LT1 forum. I've been using him exclusively for a couple of years now. He knows what he's doing.

Your gains is all dependent on your setup. I suggest sending him an email at chips@pcmforless.com and go over your car and setup with him. He'll do you right.

Yeah I just sent him an email....

I just got an email referring to a used Hypertech Chip for my car, would it be worth getting it if I can get it for cheap or is the PCMforless better?

Hypertech has a "Base" tune... PCM For Less would build you a chip geared more towards Your Car, and I would Trust PCm For Less, I haven't heard ANYTHING bad about them, and word travels fast

OK...Let me get in here. I'm the one Ryan is getting the Hypertech from. With this chip, Moroso CAI, Flowmaster "cat-back", MSD 7AL-2, 3200 stall, and 4.10 gears my car was the 9th fastest "bolt-on" car in the country 2 years ago with a 12.82 @ 106 MPH. It was in the Jan. '03 issue of GM High Tech Performance. This is a full weight, stock suspension '93 Z. Before I did the 4.10's, stall, and MSD it went 13.47 with just the chip, CAI, and exhaust...On BFG Drag Radials.
With limited mods, the Hypertech chip will work great for his application. A custom chip isn't really needed on a '93 until you start messing with cams, or injectors.

There's no way I'll say anything bad about PCMFORLESS. Alvin burnt a custom chip for mine after I did the heads/cam...But I'm offering Ryan the Hypertech for 1/3 the cost of a PCMFORLESS chip. Once he starts building more into the car he may need to go with a custom one, but this will be great for him in the meantime

Ryan, BTW, all the pictures of the car launching, on my web site with '02 on them are pictures with the Hypertech. 1.73 60 ft

Frank

I'm not sure if it's USAC or not but my buddy/mechanic's brother drives cars like that.
Do you know Joey Paxson?

This is Alvin,

I appreciate all the good feedback.

If you want me to reflash the hypertech piggyback adapters I will for $30 off normal price. I've been doing them that way to keep people from having to throw a perfectly good ADAPTER not chip away. Same goes for any other aftermarket piggyback adapter.. just pop its chip out of the adapter and send it to me bare (you can keep the old chip, all i need is the adapter)
