17x9.5 ZR1 rims spacers? lowering springs?

i just got a set of the triple crome plated zr1 rims 17x9.5 , one of my buddies said i might need spacers to keep them from rubbing the wheel well when they are turned.. is this true?? also i was looking at edibach springs to lower my car b/c of the incresed wheel size, the kits claim 1.5-3" of drop, if anybody has done this in my situation your comments and suggestions would be much appreciated! thanks!

3" of drop would put your inner fender sitting on top of your tires and the cross member damn near on the ground. I dont have enough clearance for my 3 1/8" jack to get under the crossmember by about 1/2", and I'm around a 2" drop.

No, you don't need any spacers. They will bolt right up no problemo. I have Suspension Techniques springs, and they dropped the car ~1.75" all around. Don't go any lower than that, I have enough issues with bumps, etc. sitting the way it is.

Oh yeah the jack issue. At 1.75" I can BARELY get my standard-size floorjack under my car with the swivel-pad removed.
