160 thermostat, what temp does your car run at?

What temperature does your car run at (without the fans?)

How soon does your car get hot in traffic? And how hot?

And now getting to the fans... When you had your PCM tune done, what temperature did you set fan kick on/off to?

I don't remember what my fan settings are, but the car stays between 180-185 usually. MadZ28 tune and 160 t-stat.

About 190 in traffic on a hot day

i don't remember what i had my fans turned at but I had ion turn them on sooner then what he normally sets them to in his mail order tune, but it can climb up in temp fast especially with the AC on but i can say it stays consistant.

160 t-stat and stock tune. the weather right now is usually either around freezing or somethimes it gets around 40 degrees about. usually a little over 160 but not much unless im driving for a while and not moving very fast.

my needle barely gets above 160 at a cruise. I have a fan switch, so im in control of how hot it gets in traffic. Once in a while i let the temperature get up there a bit for good measure since it runs so cool otherwise. (i hear its good for engines to get good and warm once in a while, just not danger-zone hot obviously)

Re: 160 thermostat, what temp does your car run at?

If I'm cruising on the highway during the summer with nice temps (not super hot or humid) my temps is @ 178F. I use my Hypertech programmer to turn the fans on earlier but using stk. tuning and I use the programmer with my scan cartridge plugged in so I can see all the readings.

If I'm sitting in traffic or driving around the city the temps would go up to 185-188F with the fan cycling off and on.

Hottest I've ever seen is 198F on a super HHH day sitting in traffic.

Not so sure mine even gets to 160 anymore, my fans still work but sometimes i dont even see it hit 160. Mostly around 145 and 150, but i have a cowl scoop hood and that lets out alot of head that typically builds up. In traffic on a hot day it will hit 160 but thats about it.

Factory gauges are not going to be accurate all they are good for is looking for a trend that differs from what it usually reads. In my experiance with a few different stats in my two LT1s is engine temp as seen through datalogging software will be 14-20degrees above the thermostat rating. My Caprice with 160 Hypertech stat ran at 177 when I had the in radiator engine oil cooler, when I deleted that cooler it dropped to 174.

I have yet to see my car break 185 even in the hot MN summer days. I have it tuned for the 160 stat. I love it!

Re: 160 thermostat, what temp does your car run at?

I use my scanmaster to keep track of my temps. Most of the time my car stays between 171-175 without the fans on as long as I am moving at normal driving speeds. In town in slow traffic with the AC on and the temp around 100 I have seen temps as high as 185-188 but it only takes a couple of minutes to cool it back down with the fan switch on wide open when I can get the car moving at highway speeds.

I have a Hypertech 160 thermo, run straight water with Redline Water wetter during the summer, and have a Madwolf tune, and also no engine oil cooler.

On a 95... When you turn defrost on, do you get low speed fans or high speed?
