160 Thermostat

why do people switch to a 160° thermostat? What are the benefits of having that over the stocker?

the engine will operate at a lower temperature. and a cooler engine (within reason) is a more efficient engine. keeps the incoming air cooler ...ie denser...for a better air/fuel mixture.

A cooler engine means, MORE POWER. To get the full affect you need to have the car programmed though. With the stock 180 tstat the fans dont cut on until about 220deg, where with the 160tstat and programming theyll cut on befor 200deg. It s a good mod for $20.
