160* thermo on an all stock LT1??

hey guys,
im replacing the waterpump w/ the help of Mike (Camride from this Camaro board) and i am also going to replace the fan belt, radiator hoses and thermostat while im at it. should a 160* Hypertech thermostat be OK? the guy from CAP says it will cause all sorts of problems cuz it will run too cool since i am stock and have no programming. should i go with the 160* Hypertech or just get a reg. 180* thermo?

thanx,
jake

"guy from CAP" Civil Air Patrol?

You won't have any problems. Your car will still warm up and perform fine, but your cruising temp will be ~20º lower.

i can't resist...

how you gonna change the fan belt?

as for the 160 stat. i've had one in my old iroc and in my new camaro...both have no problems.

although the heat was a bit low when i drove the iroc to NY and got in some single digit temps...

I have it on mine (in Atlanta). The only thing I notice is in the winter time, I'm lucky to have much heat. But maybe if I go faster I can generate some friction that will generate some more heat.......
