Without getting into specifics in header design. I am going to say nothing. You actually may loose some low rpm torque

Stock

If you're running a stock cam, you will definitely lose low-end torque. You really don't need 1 3/4" unless you have a large cam and ported heads. The LT-1 heads flow like crap on the exhaust side, anyway, so save your money.

Edelbrocks aren't even a full 1 5/8", some primaries are 1.5" and some are 1 5/8".

Real world, on a mild car you wont see much. At some point though in the future with other upgrades I'd get something "better."

I'd have to say macs are the best 1 5/8's shorty headers. Good performance and cheap price.

I dunno guys a stock camaro A4(automatic) with just the AS&M down here ran 13.5@106mph, that is real high IMHO & I doubt he'd of done it with 1 5/8th headers, thats real real high MPH for an automatic IMHO.

Not much gain from 1 5/8 Shorties to 1 3/4Mid-lengths if that's your ONLY mod/planned mod. Even though I'm stock, I'm gonna get LT's this summer as I plan to go H/C package around next summer and I can't wait that long to do a mod.
