This might not belong in here, but I think one of the guys in my car club has nitrous when he says that he doesn't. There have been many people that have seen him run a 13.4 @ 105 and I don't believe his mods.

He says that he only has a Moroso CAI and a Dynomax muffler. He ran a 13.4 @ 105 with a 2.102 60' He has a 97 z28 with a M6 btw. In theory if he could get a 1.9 60' he would run about a 13.1 in the 1/4 with only the CAI and muffler. I don't think that sounds right at all. Is it possible his car is really that stout?

Also, he was at the 1/8 track when he first got the car and ran it a couple of times on 315 nittos and ran a 9.2 a week later he came back on 225 street tires and ran an 8.6 (said he learned how to drive the car). He also had been asking about nitrous on our club message board. I don't think any of this adds up. I'm not disputing that he really did run a 13.4, just what it took to get him there. What do you guys think?

 

There are some freaks out there that could possibly do this. I ran a 8.90 with a 1.98 60' bone stock. 13.4 witha 2.1 60' is kinda suspect though usually you gotta atleast get a good launch to get that low with so few mods. I doubt hes squeezing unless its a really small shot, maybe he just has a freak.

My friend's '95 A4 ran 13.7 bone stock...

 

Its probably just one of the few really good running LT1's still out there. He must be a good driver too. I'd say its not BS, could also be the track DA.

Yep..very possible...I ran 102 mph @ 14doh's stock with 2.4 60 foot. "Stock 6 speed"
Installed a LPE CAI and MAC Cat back and went 13.8s at 104 mph with 2.35 60 foot. I'm sure I would have easily beat that sense that was first time out with those two mods....I went on to bigger things....Stroker then stalled auto...

 

I got a 13.4 at 105 but it took a 1.9 sixty foot. This was with a cut-out, CAI and 3.73 gears. With a 2.1 sixty, and the mods you said, I think he has something more.

its possible its a 97 it could just be a good running Lt1 most out there need tune ups and what not. just by learning to drive it better helps i think he would trap more if he was on nitrous. i could be wrong though but yeah....

What are your bolt-ons now, it looks like you still have some inpressive times.

 

I suppose it's possible. There are also things you get into when buying a used car, like maybe it has some modifications he or anyone else doesn't know about it. Maybe the PCM has a tune, maybe if you take the valve covers off there are some 1.6's in there, who knows.

 

Possible, also possible that its got mods he does not know about. You could remove the oil fill neck and look and se if you see roller rockers. Computer could have a tune. Maybe it has 3.73's..... For that just go for a ride and see what RPM he is at compared to the speed and gear he is in and use on of those gear calculators online.


Just cause someone says they are stock or says they only have this and this mods does not mean its true.

I have heard of freak LT1 6 speed cars on hooking tracks running that fast. Heard or more doing it on sticky tires.
Does not make sense that he ran faster on streets then nittos and said he learned how to drive..... and was faster on the streets. I have heard of people being just as fast on streets but not faster...

 

The part that I was suspect of was 105 mph and the 2.1 60' and still low 13's. Yes, we have thought about the car having something more done than he might know though.

Something else comes to mind, he was running the same tires and raced me in the 1/8 and he was getting 1.9 60's the whole night. He then goes to the 1/4 track which has better prep gets 2.1 60's and runs faster 1/8 times...

I have no bolt-ons, just suspension work.

 

that's what I mean. I might believe it if you said he was pulling 1.9s or lower, but with only a 2.1 and getting a 13.4? maybe...

 

I dont doubt the ET, trap is kinda iffy but I have heard of a couple six speed LT1 cars that trapped really good for the mods, Jon94Z on here ran a 13.5@101 with a 2.0 sixty, only thing done was a Borla and MTI CAI, cars an auto with stock 3.23s this was back in 99 or 00, some cars on a good night will run their *** off.
