Is 12's possible?

I have a 96 z28 with mac mids, slp loudmouth, morso intake, and 3.73's. I was thinking of getting a stall. Maybe a 2800 stall? Could i hit a 12 with traction with a 2800 stall?thanks

Noticing you're in Missouri, if you run at gateway on a good night, and you can launch it, you should deffinently hit 12's. 2800vig would be perfect. Also get BFG or MT drag radials.

With the stall on DRs, deff could hit some 12s.

Re: Is 12's possible?

Deffinately possiable... my car ran consistant 13.2xx @ 103-104 with a CAI, 3.73's, 2800 stall converter, Nitto Drag Radials, and a cut out with stock manifolds/stock y-pipe/stock cat-back and an adjustable torque arm that was missajusted to +2* actually slowing the car down pushing the rear up off the ground when launching. This was also with a slipping tranny and a dieing opti.

If I would have gone back to the track with the new tranny/opti and a properly adjusted torque arm before the heads/cam the car deffinately COULD have seen mid 12's @ 105-108mph.

12's are deffinately possiable with your setup.

Well, for whatever reason I could only muster a 13.5 I think with minor bolt-ons including my converter, 3.42's and DR. Most LT1's in my area run around the 14.2 range - probably the crappy track that we use.

Took my cam and tuning to finally hit 12's solid.

Re: Is 12's possible?

I'd go a little higher on the TC. 3k is good but don't go higher than 3800 unless you are planning heads and cam soon. I'm running a 3k. Your 10 bolt should hold up fine with the auto. It's the 6 speed guys that have to really worry. I'm pulling 1.6X 60-ft times on the stock rear. Also I'd go with the MT ET streets for drive to the track and race applications. They will give you the best hook off the line. Lightening the car up a bit surely wouldn't hurt.

It's a nice gear IMO - i've ran all this time with the 3.42's and was actually considering installing my buddies 3.73 rearend but since i'm running nitrous this year the 3.42's will be better for my combo. I see nothing wrong with the 3.42's even with my 3k converter. Car launches nice, and is perfect for the highway - which I drive a lot. I like 3.73's but I haven't run them in this current car so I really don't know how my combination would run with them.

I think the stall and drag radials should get you into the 12's.

Re: Is 12's possible?

Couple questions for you guys since have similar setup.
Car currently has CAI,tb bypass,ls1 driveshaft,3.42 gears,magnaflow catback,
airfoil,maft plus,gms maf,hpp.
I had nittos last year might get some again or might get et street radials.
Raceweight in the vert was 3800 pounds.Best 60ft on our crapola track was 2.18.Best time was 14.3 at 95mph.

Track is at 1900 feet.WE had a big headwind that day.I think that killed 3 tenths and 3 mph.

I have waiting for install a CC305 cam,1.6 nsa pro mags, vig 2800,asp underdrive balancer.Have zex wet kit but can't use that at the track,no rollbar ,in fact can't go under 13.5 unless lie and say the car is pure stock under new pure stock class, figure might get away with it.

So is 95 mph very low for my heavy vert with the mods on it that ran last sesaon.I suspect maybe a pooched opti.

Whats kind of 60fts should be doable on nittos or et street radials with the waiting for install mods. What about if added some mac headers?

Do you think a 12 is possible on my car with headers and above mods even at my raceweight and altitude? Of course figure should be able to get a mid 12 or better on spray but talking NA.
