12's with lt's and hotcam?

Would my car hit 12's with my mods, hooker lt's and a hotcam kit? Or could i hit 12's with the lt's and a tune from pcmforless? Also what do i need other than dr's to pull 1.8 60's?

With your current mods you should be able to reach 12's with the hotcam, LT's, and 4.10 gears. You'll need some DR's to get a solid launch, but with high mileage you might be bringing your 10 bolt to the end of it's life. As for PCMforless...you're going to most likely need a tune with the hotcam anyway.

Yea the car has lots of miles but they were all put on by my 50 year old uncle. I've got about 3k set aside for when she goes though Hopefully not before next summer because i'm going to school in 2 days and won't have time to rebuild it. What actually breaks in the rear end under a hard lanch? ring, pinion gear?

My pinion seal and gear went down when my rear broke. I'm not sure about the ring gear but I wouldnt doubt there was some kind of damage done to it. This was before I was into drag racing at the strip and modding the car. I was driving home from my cottage 300 miles away. Drove home 250 miles with an extremely loud noise coming from the rear in 95 degree heat and standstill traffic for 3 hours on I-75. Didnt know what it was until I got home.

My rear lasted 2 weeks after going to the strip. I was running DR's with a centerforce dual friction and 4.10 with a 150 shot of NOS. Was getting killer 1.6's 0 to 60 but like I said. It blew 2 weeks after that when I was going to work. That sucked! Oh yeah the pinion gear had cracks on every tooth that was left.

So to fix the rear end you just needed a new set of gears?

You can fix it by replacing the gears but it Will blow up again if you race alot. The Rear ends just cant handle alot of horse power or Hard launches I should say. I have also had another Firebird where when the rear blew up, It wedged part of the pinion gear into the casing.
