12 mpg city!?

So i do most of my driving to school and back and to work, then driving to like the mall and such. I drive i'd say about 90% city and 10% highway. I don't really get on her too much the specs say i should be getting 17 mpg city. Anybody have any ideas why i would be getting 5mpg less? I checked my tire pressure they're all fine, rotated the tires and had them balanced and checked my air filter all are good. Any other ideas on things i should have checked? Really trien to improve my gas mileage im getting killed on having to refill so much.

if u havent changed your O2s in a while, that might be something to look into...if nothing else helps can perhaps have your cat(s) checked to see if its clogged.

More than likely it's your driving style. If I totally babied my stock LT1, I might have got 16/17mpg, but you had to really try. Freeway, I could get 24 all day.

I usually got 12/13mpg on my bolt on LT1, now with the 383, I get closer to 9/10mpg. Most of my driving is around town to and from work.

start changing gurrs at 2500 RPM and you'll notice a big difference.

Pay no attention to the minivans zooming past you

Well considering that most your driving is city 90% anyways, 12 aint that bad, i get about 11 with about 95% city driving, hell a lot of the newer cars are rated like 15-16. I would do what svt killer lv said to do, might help some.

I agree, shift at 2500 or maybe even a little sooner. Around town I will shift at 2K, with the CC306 in my car it won't pull at all, but gas milage improves a lot.

Do you have any mods? With the mods that I have on my car I get about 12.5 mpg in the city. I usually have at least on road race in between fill ups, these damn ricers keep thinking they are faster then me!!!! Someone has to show them
