I am confident that those are your only two options! You can get almost any rear to fit, but it will take extensive modifications, definatly more than a 12 bolt or 9" would run you. If you are not looking to spend all that money, try a gear swap, and get a T/A stud girdle kit. Getting a C-clip eliminator is also another option, but I do not know the details of this install or a price.

try this place.
www.extremechassis.com They are selling a 8.8 with moser axles and a auburn posi for $1700. You can also use your abs with this one. I don't know a thing about them but it looks to me like it's about $500 cheaper than a strange 12 bolt

That's awesome, now we can use the Torsen T-2 in something that can take around 900+rwhp.

It's made by Zexel, worm gear operation, prolly the best differential you can buy if you do a lot of road racing. An Eaton/Auburn/ARB/etc. etc. doesn't really work all that well when your trying to turn in.

Where is the weak point in the 7.5? Is it simply the gears? I would figure you could always get better axles, and a better carrier, so that must be it. Is it simply too small? Gears just too brittle?

28 spline axles don't help much, the 8.5" 10 bolts aren't that weak, but they put the 7.65" in ours... besides with the money spent on rebuilding a 10 bolt, your half way to a 12 bolt/9"/8.8".

Mustang, Bronco, Explorer, F150 etc. etc... much much stronger.

If it can handle 500ft. lbs and 35" tires without a problem, it can handle my power.

i've heard that the 8.8 is equivalent to our 12 bolts, and then the 9 inch is just the mack daddy of rearends.

I think they are selling them for around $1700 complete, thats about $500 less than complete 12 bolt or 9" with the basics.

I beleive the 9" would be much lighter than the 12 bolt or the 8.8" give the fact that its housing is a stamped peice of metal and the third member can be made of aluminium or cast iron... whereas the 12 bolt or 8.8" is an entire unit in cast iron... however the 9" produces a lot of heat and its pinion shaft height is a bit higher than the 12 bolt or 8.8", not really ideal for road racing, but it is still used in high end road racing series because of its strength and reliability.

I would say that a M/W Dana 60 would be the mack daddy, but it would be very pricey and heavy. A 9.75 compared to a Ford 9 and a Chevy 12 bolts 8.75.
