Man Im really confused. My reply about the comp being too high for pump gas was to AKAFREDs first post. Then 95camaroz28 replied to me saying that it runs fine, then edited the 12.5:1 down to 11.5:1, ok I understand that, but why were you replying to my reply to akafred, im just really confused, and im sure this is making it worse. anyway AKAfred, how does yours run on pump gas with the 12.5:1, I really cant imagine it running, thats comp is way up there, im no expert on it but isnt that getting close to alcohol?

Edit: Wait, I figured it out, he was just replying to state his situation, then akafred replied later stating how his runs, gotcha, disregard my previous statement.

When is it that a car just wont run on 94 anymore, this compression stuff has always baffled me, I know a cam changes the dynamic compression and all that stuff, but there has to be a point where it detonates constantly??

I wouldnt go any higer than 12.5:1 on 94 octane with a fairly big cam.

I wouldnt even consider going that high with a stock cam

If i were to do it again with a hotcam and 94 octane I would be shooting for 11.5:1 compresion ratio

my car is quite driveable but if my g/f took it for one night I would need 8 new pistons, because she would be scared to go past 2000rpm and would ping / lug it to death.

I run 12:1 on my 94 with pump gas (93). Runs fine with no problems.

Just drive it on the highway and use very light throttle and you'll burn off that gas in no time. You could always wait until you've got a half tank and then fill it up with 110octane unleaded race fuel.

As long as you don't go full throttle (especially in the higher gears where it's under more load) you should be perfectly fine, especially with our weather cooling off around here right now.

Why didn't you wait right there for them to drain the tank and fill it with the proper stuff? Or at least cut you an estimated check for the problem they created?
