Hey all,
Quick question....I have a custom y-pipe w/2 highflow cats but one of the cats is rattling and I feel that the other is about to go out.
I'm thinking of just yanking them both, replacing them with straight pipes and installing a resonator into the Ipipe.
Which size is reccommended? also oval or round?
I want to do this before I go back to the dyno

I done a search before I posted the question, but coundn't find any info that jumped out at me to determine which length. I just want to do it right the 1st time.
Let me put it this way...GMMG exhaust owners...which resonators are you using if any at all? I don't want the car too loud. Thanks.

I have a 12" Dynomax Race Magnum bullet muffler in place of the cat with my single cat Mac header set-up going into the GMMG on my '95 Z28...Sounds great without any raspy/poppy sounds (very loud on the outside when you're starting to get on it, but reasonably calm inside the car with very little drone)...But since you have a dual cat car, why not just replace the bad cats with another set of new highflows like Carsounds? They're cheap and flow great. If you just yank the cats off and replace them with offroad pipes then your car will sound quite raspy and higher-pitched. I guess you could just replace them with the 12" bullets in the Y, but I've only read about the single cat owners doing that...However, it shouldn't be any different with the dual cat set-ups...The OBD2 would throw a code for them, but you could easily have it deleted...

BTW, people generally use the 18" bullet in the I-pipe of their cat-back systems, but it doesn't really seem to help much with the rasp of catless Y-pipes strangely enough. Although the smaller bullet in place of the actual cat on my set-up amongst other single cat owners doesn't produce any rasp.

Just give a new combo a try and see what you like best...
