12.0 or bust!

The car is a low mileage (60k) 1995 z28 a4 with 3.73s, 3200 vig, hooker lts, moroso CAI, 503 cam and supporting mods. well the first track day this season was a bust by being stricken with the infamous lt1 stumble. I only made two passes the best being 12.48 with 1.8 60ft. The car sat outside under a cover for a little while this winter and apparently it didnt care for it. Further compounding this problem I do not have the ability to scan for any codes nor is there any shops in a 60 mile radius that does any lt1 work. My first thought was the opti so five somethin hundred later the msd opti swap didnt fix anything, next I changed out the o2s and luckily that fixxed it so next weekend ill be back at the track! Im hoping to get there without any weight reductions such as a/c!, cruise or any other street equipment. Im open to any suggestions from you guys to hitting my goal! Thanks Jason

I've heard of lots of people having problems with the MSD Opti. From what I've heard, it's really not a very good part. Your money is better spent on a complete aftermarket ignition that eliminates the opti altogether.

What tires? How wide? Do you have LCA relocation brackets? What's your burnout and launch technique?

What's the exhaust setup behind your LT's? No cats?

1.6 RRs? Underdrive pulleys?

How are you using the stall? Are you flashing it, or stalling it up? Many guys have good luck with flashing it, and I'm going to give it a try this year. Do you dead hook when your cutting the 1.8 60s? Are they 1.8s flat or are you round that # off?

What tire pressure do you run? Have you tried overinflating the front tires for less rolling friction?

Hi guys,
The tires are mickey thompson street radials with all stock suspension and 10 bolt, i was getting low 1.6s last year just with last weekends stumble/ missfire problem the car wouldnt launch. The car launches best from idle flashing the converter, also the exhaust has a removable cat (pull out to go to the track) with a flowmaster cat back. i have not checked or adjusted the tire pressures as of yet this year.
thanks jason

Well, you can free up a lot of horsepower by ditching the Flowmaster. Those have been proven to flow worse than stock. Pretty much anything would be better. If you just can't live without the Flowmaster sound or don't want to spend a bunch of money, a cutout for track days is the answer.
