11's on stock internals?

11's on stock internals?

how many of you guys are running 11's or better on stock internals? i've heard of more than a few people that have done it, but i'm curious to see it in the real world.

i have some low mile 95 rods and pistons and i'm going to need my block machined. since i'm trying to do this on a budget, i'm trying to gauge if spending the extra $500 or more on forged parts is going to be worth it.

I think you're fine but it depends on if you're going to spray it.

I'm in the 11's with nitrous. I haven't run the car much at all. It's not a problem with 11's it's a problem with how much Hp you're making. Most people think the stock rods are good till 450rwhp. There are guys who have gone way over that too. If you're building it I would think Eagle I beams for $200 are hard to beat and if you plan on spraying the forged pistons are a safe bet. The stock crank is fine but people have broken those too.

i plan around 375-400 hp on spray to start. i know a guy who ran 10's on spray with a stock bottom end and he says it's safe. i was just curious to see who else is doing it. i lost my job so i'm on a very tight budget to get my engine rebuilt.

lol, i would worry about just getting the engine running then. dont worry about forging the bottom end until you get your job situation addressed. i would think that would be more of a priority. once you get the new job, then you can have the money to put into the motor. trust me, if you run the car hard, it will get expensive real quick. JMHO.

fwiw, you should be okay with 375-400rwhp on a stock bottom end (provided you take the time to educate yourself on how to set it up properly). i would stud the block if i were you. the rest should be alright provided its in good shape now.

I'll be there this thursday with my new converter/tranny install. I almost made it with a pos S-10 12" converter NA! I bought an Edge 3800 stall and I can't wait! Remember, it's not really power that kills rods, it's rpm. Of course, be sure set that timing back if you are going to spray it. Detonation is another killer.

i guess that seems to be the answer everyone is telling me, it's all in the tuning. i'm going to throw this back together soon and give it a go. i guess if itblows someday i'll have to spend the money for new parts anyway and that will be the time to go forged.
