100,000 mile LT1
100,000 mile LT1
My car is approaching 100,000 miles. I just blew a head gasket last month, so i have that replaced and while my heads were off i had them grind my valves. Also, I just put on new spark plugs and wires, so my car is running pretty strong right now. I was wondering is there any other tune up stuff I should do? And i was thinking about modding, and was wondering if 100,000 miles would be too many to start to mod? I just want a faster street car, so i was thinking cai, cat back, headers. What do you guys think?
Re: 100,000 mile LT1
A lot of people go for 150k + miles on their LT-1's. I pulled mine at 107k, and my bearings were worn pretty good. They would have went another few thousand miles before spinning one. My 107k miles haven't been very easy on my car. You might make it to 200k miles who knows? If you got the cash to rebuild, start to atleast think about it. It not if, but when.
But those mods you want are great mods to start with. You will notice a big improvement with them.
Good luck

Re: 100,000 mile LT1
Start with some basic boltons and maybe some n2o. If you blow the motor, no big deal just dont do what i did and put alot of work into porting heads and putting in new rings and bearings only to have a stock piston break and destroy the block and heads. Well atleast ive got the intake. I wouldn't want ya to get a good heads and cam package and have your motor fall apart and destroy expensive heads.
