#1 cylinder not firing! Why?

Im not getting any spark to the #1 cylinder, none at all. All the other headers are hot so figured they were firing.

Well I took off the opti last night expecting to see my cap all f'd up. Well the cap looks ok and the rotor looks decent. (but if the rotor was bad all the cylinders wouldnt be firing? right?) so anyways I take apart the last peice and see the optical disk. Its a little warped and when you turn it, the warped part scratches against the optical sensor. Is thats what wrong?

Ive already checked the injectors/wires/plugs... Its not getting spark (yes I did a spark test, no spark)

Is it my opti? Whats the problem inside the opti?

It's doubtful the cap or the rotor is responsible for your problem. Start with the plug (out of the car) change it to another and see if spark returns. Then try the wire (again with the plug out of the engine). If those 2 don't bring back spark then it must be the distributor. Don't do just cap and rotor since the bearing is what often fails. Get the whole unit from someone like Jason.

Look for shorts in the plug wire.

I would say if you have interference problems with the optical disc, you should replace the opti.

$209 from Jason, is that the whole opti? Or just the cap and rotor?

That seems like the going price for it, Jason cuts a good deal.
Chances are the pickup is going bad for that one cylinder, I just can really think of any other problems that it could be. Seems like you did your homework on trouble shooting it and since you have the opti off seems to be a good time to replace it.

Let us know on what you find out.
