1/8th miles track results w/new combo.

Hey all,
Here is what I got on test-tune. Temp was 82-85 degrees.
No traction on Nittos what-so-ever. Tires at 23-25psi but can't remember which runs....
1. 60ft 2.308
1/8th ET 9.292
1/8th mph 82.59

2. 60ft 2.115
1/8th ET 8.699
1/8th mph 84.75

3. 60ft 2.253
1/8th ET 8.769
1/8th mph 85.41

4. 60ft 2.209
1/8th ET 8.704
1/8th mph 86.15

The last run was with me taking the car up to 63k rpm and not shifting at 6K rpm.
Is this OK?

You need some traction. I'm running lloyds heads with a smaller cam (~220/226) and I ran 7.5 at 91 in the 1/8th. Get that 60ft down and it'll be running good.

Traction????!!!!.....What's that

I don't see how you guys cut 1.9 60ft and less with a 6M.
I'm scared to put on some BFG slicks or MT ET Streets because I don't have any more funds for a new rear-end or 12 bolt.
I tried launching that car every which way I could think of from slipping the clutch, easing out of the hole and then nailing the gas, to all out clutch dumps no higher than 3K rpm.

thanks for the replys fellas.

Tim

With Nittos I had to do about a 10 seconds burnout in order to get them to hook. You should be able to get a 1.90 or less everytime on NIttos with a long burnout. YOu are right though M6 + nittos = boom after a while. It might be better not to hook until you can afford a rearend.

Traction would help your ET but your mph is really low for that cam and heads. Something isnt right with your setup.

also recommend dropping the psi in the tires to around 16-18psi, and see if that helps any.

Wow, Ten second burnouts I wouldn't have any rubber left after doing one of those esp. trying to get in at least 3 runs.

I understand the mph is low, but its a full weight car with leather seats and no suspension mods. I do have high rpm miss that I'm trying to nail down. By the time the car gets to moving, its time to shut it down in the 1/8th. I don't start to get decent traction til 3rd gear and like I said, its usually time to shut it down.

Good call on the psi...next time at the track (hopefully it will be a 1/4th track) I'm going with about 15-18 psi right off the bat and hope like hell the rear will hold for 1 decent pass.

Take Care fellas and thanks for the info.

Tim

You have to get those 60's down. The nitto's will hook with a good burnout. I have them on mine and have pulled a 1.69 60' with them.

Your trap is low too, my best 1/8th trap is 85.8mph with a bolton A4.

It seems like I have to either learn how to drive or get this combo tuned to the max.
OR both
I know the power is there...the dyno results don't lie. I've just got to figure out where the grimilns are. My last dyno run didn't include a AFR (don't ask me why---its a long story-- Unknown how rich I'm running), I just purchased a walbro 255 fuel pump, 1.7 RRs. Jett Hott LTs are going in soon (that should help pull harder in the midrange). Once I have some more funds, these additional items will be installed and hopefully DYNO TUNED.
But I do agree that my current combo should be maximized before putting new stuff on.

Later guys.

Tim

P.S. 10 sec burnouts here I come at my next track outing--that is in second gear right???

My best 1/8th mile is 6.6 OK OK I was on my GSXR 1100 LOL I cant wait to go this summer and see what the car does. My buddy swears his mustang will run in the high 5s I guess we will see. He had the F1 added to his already stroked 347 last year at Larrocas in NJ said he had 667 RWHP on the dyno I dont hink he is going to hook up well.

Back when I was making 368rwhp/336rwtq I trapped 90mph in the 1/8th. The conditions of the weather and track may have had an affect. 2 weeks before I trapped 90mph, I had gone on a wet day and only trapped 87mph in the 1/8th. I gained 3mph just from weather and track conditions. I clocked 2.0 60's both days, so 60' wasnt a factor.

My buddy was trapping 88mph with a full weight car and the same mods as I have. Stocke heads as well.

Well, I guess my car came off the assembly line on a Friday when everyone was thinking about the weekend or on a Monday when everyone was hung-over
Its obvious from what everyone is saying that the car has issues. I'm working on it when time/money allows me to. I agree that the weather was a factor. It was hot and humid that afternoon I went. The weather is a small piece of the puzzle in the overall big picture and it does help my ego a little knowing that I can't control it
Once I get everything nailed down to my liking, I'll be posting some new dyno numbers later this year hopefully.

Thanks again for all the honest input fellas

Tim
