1.7rr and 1.6rr on stock motor...?
1.7rr and 1.6rr on stock motor...?
Has anyone ever tried mixing and matching rocker arms on a stock motor. Say like putting 1.7's on the intake and 1.6's on the exhaust or vice versa. Would there be any gains from doing this? Isn't there something to be gained by having different size rocker arms on the intake and exhaust? Ive heard of people doing this but forgot the reason(s)?
Re: 1.7rr and 1.6rr on stock motor...?
Why not just put both of the same ones on intake and exhaust. If the intake opens up with a 1.7, the exhaust should too so it'd be easier for the gas to flow out. You have the extra air coming in with 1.7 but trying to shove the same amount out 1.6. Same if you did 1.6-1.5. Atleast that's my logic.
Re: 1.7rr and 1.6rr on stock motor...?
Intake valve is usually larger than the exhaust valve. ie: 2.00 intake and 1.55 exhaust.
So you'd likely be best off putting 1.6 on the intake and 1.7 on the exhaust to help even out the numbers.

If anything, you'd be better off putting the higher lift RRs on the exhaust side since exhaust is the more restricted. Don't know the advantage of 1.7s over 1.6s. On a stock Lt1, you can put 1.6s on the exhaust side and leave the 1.5s on the intake, but you might as well go with the same on both since you are going with RRs anyway.JMHO
