1.7 rrs and the lt1

are they too aggressive for the valvetrain? what's the major issue that everyone seems to run into with them? do other companies rockers fit into the lt1 head if they have the same stud size? (ex. ford)

i dont beleive this statement to be true at all, when you place this 1.7 roller on the stud and measure it,it is alsmost dead center with eachother(valve tip to rocker tip)
the biggest deal with the set up is modding the valve covers or getting taller ones, getting new valve springs etc. If you can't instal a cam this is a good way to go! besides Lt1s like more valve lift and don't need a bunch of duration.

You can modify the ones you have. You just have to cut some of the supports and you are good to go. I'm sure someone has pics on here somewhere.

They would be too aggressive for the stock springs.

Look up Comp Cams, Crane Cams, GM Performance Parts, etc. all these companies offer rocker for the SBC, I would not recommend trying to find Ford rockers that could work on your motor. BTW stock the rocker studs are 3/8" on top and 7/16" threaded into the head, but you can upgrade your studs to 7/16" top and bottom. - which would require the matching rocker arms.

I would have to convert to guide plates to use these. I think I will stick with the 1.6's I already have.

Whats the big deal with changing to guide plates,go to 7/16 studs instead of the 3/8 studs and have hardened pushrods with 1.6 or 1.7.....3/8 studs flex too much at higher rpms

Budget is too tight. But I will keep it in mind for later.
