A friend just bought a set of used 1.6rr's for his Z and I told him he needs springs too. He says no way, "stock springs will work fine". Who is right?

 

Some have used stock springs and got away with it-others were not so lucky-why half-a$$ it? Do it right the first time.

 

There is no debate. Tell him to get a set of LT4 springs and stick them in. They cost about $30.00 - For the whole set of 16 springs.

He is begging for valve float at about 5500 rpm with those stock springs.

 

I keep telling him to upgrade the springs and he just wont listen. I will get him over here to read your reponses. Thanks for making me right

 

I kept my stock springs...no problems here

I will upgrade when i do a cam swap though

 

I wouldn't use 1.6 rockers and stock springs, but some people do and seem to get away with it.

I am another on the stockers only reason I did is becaue I have heads sitting with new springs on them and want to play with the stock motor for a while.I will be changing them when I put the cam in soon..
