1.6 RR Install w/ Comp 987 springs, what torque setting?

I have the "How to rebuild the LT1/LT4 small block" book, and i was going of how to install the roller rockers for the LT4 since i'm using roller rockers too. I think there is a problem though, i think i'm getting spring bind. I torqued the nuts for adjusting the rocker arms down to 18lbs like your supposed to, but that wouldn't be the same for comp 987 springs would it? the only reason i ask this is because when i was trying to turn my motor over by hand to get it back to TDC after all the rocker arms were adjusted and torqued down to 18lbs (like in how to rebuild the LT4), it looks like the springs were hitting together, getting to tight and the motor couldn't be turned anymore (2 people trying).

I know someone out there has to have 1.6 pro magnum roller rockers and comp 987 valve springs, did you torque yours down to 18lbs when adjusting the rocker arms or something else?

I have that same book but did not used their recommendations. I gave the nut 1/4 turn past zero lash.

I would not be using any torque setting on the rocker arm nuts. You need to find zero lash and then set the preload to what you want (1/4, 1/2 turn or whatever). Not sure where that torque value came from.

zero lash? is that just where the pushrod doesn't wiggle anymore when tightening?

It is when there is no more up/down movement of the pushrod. There is a lot of explanation of setting valves on my Tech Page.

Shoebox do you use the "spin the pushrod" method in conjunction with either method 1, 2, or 3. Method 3 looks like its the easiest to do.

Sure, spinning is good enough. It's not an exact science.

So you just have to spin it. You don't have to also find TDC by using method 1 before you try to spin it? Oh and i meant method 1 looks the easiest not method 3.

The lifter must be on the base lobe of the cam (like TDC) and then you spin.
