1.6 roller rockers in stock motor
1.6 roller rockers in stock motor
i was on craigslist the other day looking for an ac compressor an luckily i found one. the guy had a bunch of lt1 parts for sale and had a set of proform 1.6rr (self aligning) for 40 bucks. not bad, i thought, so i picked them up along with the ac.
so my question is, could i run them with a stock top end in my 95? i dont really know that much about motor work so im sorry if its a dumb question
thanks!

Its not so much the added lift the 1.6's will provide, as the reduced friction going to a roller rocker setup. Can be 15 hp
to 20 hp difference going to roller rockers over stamped steel factory rockers. Definitely get the hot cam springs, get new valve seals, and you will be set to go. Enjoy

andyysc told it correct. The reduced friction will net you around fifteen additional horses due to less internal friction as compared to the stock stamped oe style. The reason people get the higher ratio rockers are due to the upgrading of cams, heads and springs. Since an aftermarket cam produces more lift you need better springs that can handle the lift which is the same for rockers. The stock rockers would not give you the lift you would want with aftermarket parts limiting you all together. In your case though id say about ten horsepower with no mods due to less internal friction. I have the same rockers and i received about fifteen more horses with a head and cam package and also hell of a buy for forty dollars mine cost about 185 new not many chances to gain ten to fifteen horses for forty dollars.
