1.6 rocker question

I have a set of lt4 1.6 rockers, just the rockers, no studs etc. I'm going to be doing a head swap in a couple of weeks and was wondering If I could use the studs that are on my stock heads? and what else do I need to install the rockers.

Your LT1 studs will work but you might want to go to 7/16 ones over the OEM 3/8 studs. Also you MUST replace the valve springs or the LT1 springs will bind & break. With your stock cam you can go to the LT4 springs which are cheap & solve the binding problem.

way ahead of ya on the springs , my current heads have the lt4 springs while i'm swapping for a set of ported heads with beefier springs. I just didn't know If I could use the stock rocker studs with the 1.6 roller rockers that I have.

Actually there are two different types of LT4 1.6 rr. One works with the 3/8 studs and the others need the 7/16s. I guess you'll have to check them to see which ones you have.

any way to tell just by looking at the rockers themselves?

Not sure. I have the 3/8s rockers on my car, but I ordered them so I wouldn't have to change the stud. If they have a part number stamped on them the 3/8 rockers are part # 12370839.

You can check the rocker's stud size by taking one to the hardware store and trying to fit a 7/16" bolt through it. But I have never heard of an LT4 rocker that took 7/16" studs.

thanks they do fit perfectly on a set of stock studs that I have so I guess it's safe to assume these rockers use 3/8 studs

'Real' LT4 RR's have a shouldered 7/16" stud, and use a 10mm nut..[real being factory on an LT4 motor, NOT 'lt4 heads' from factory for 'conversions' those come with LT1 [3/8"]studs..]
I guess the real Q here is did they come OFF an LT4?

Those from the 'hotcam' kit would be for 3/8" then... and will fit standard LT1 studs..
