1.6 Rocker Arm Install Question

HI I have been using this site for a year or so and just really appreciate all of the great info it has given me and problems it has helped with. I found a gret deal on some crane gold roller rockers 1.6 self aligning. 1996 ws6. I will not be adding a cam. I will be getting some lt4 springs. Are keys and caps the same as locks and retainers??? My main question is can or should I reuse the stock keys and caps the car has 50000 miles. do I need to replace valve seals. Thanks.

I don't know if your stock keys and retainers will work with the springs. Some springs, e.g. REVs will accept stockers, however you may need the retainers and keys that go with the springs. That's what I'm think'n.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to replace the seals while you have the springs off. I leave that to someone else.

Frankly, I would go with some healthier springs, especially with SA rockers, but that's just me. JMHO

I might be mistaken, but aren't LT4 springs only sold individualy (which is relatively expensive) or in a kit w/ lock & retainers (which is relatively cheap)?

What I'm saying is buy the spring kit and get all the lock/retainers and not worry about it.

They sell a package with 16 springs (which is like 30 something dollars) and yes you can re-use your stock locks and caps.

You can reuse the stock caps/locks but its a bad idea. I have installed both the stockers and the LT4's. The lt4 caps are much stronger build quality. The stock caps arn't made for that much spring pressure.
