I've seen 12.9s and 13.1's with 1/8 and 1/8 mph at or above this and they end up with 107 or 109 1/4mph. I have a 383. is the lt4 cam THAT BAD. In addition it is about 95 here and my engine temps are 210 even on the highway driving home. i also blew a header gasket....WTF. is my a/f off to make the engine run so hot. I have a a/f gauge but if bounces around so much if seems to be in the stoch range most of the time, never rich until it is WOT then only 3 green led's. Stock heads and 52 mm tb. Just installed 32lbs injectors and long tubes with a new pcm for less tune. and I was running 13.7 at 107 with that...........thoughts

 

stock heads...............That's my first thought

 

It isn't the cam, that cam gets people into the 12s all the time.

 

First of all, NEVER go off an A/F gauge unless it is a WB. Also, the hotcam is a very mild cam for a 383, and like mentioned above, the stock heads are holding you back alot. Your MPH seems low, I'd get a good tune and check the A/F with a WB.

You put stock heads on a 383, what do you expect? You can probably pick up .6 or .7 by getting your short time down, fixing your exhaust leak and sorting the tune out.

 

Looks good to me. Quickest run my buddy made with same type of setup on the motor was a 13.70 @ 104 spinning pretty much to the 1/8th mile.. I suggest getting the heads done and working on your 60 ft a little.

 

Get some DRs. Does wonders.

 

I would be pointing at the heads, also true that cam does get people into the 12's, but is a bit mild for that set up.
