1/4 mile deceleration idle question

SO, I thought I fixed the problem of the car trying to die after a race. Then I got a new tune. Do I just keep pushing in the set screw until it idles? A higher mechanical idle due to the set screw being pushed out farther isnt bad is it? I am afraid it may be my opti on the way out (AGAIN) but let me know what you guys think.

I had it fixed before by pushing out the set screw with my last tune but after the dyno tune it seems to be back. Even after burnouts I have to feather the throttle while in idle. Ideas?

Re: 1/4 mile deceleration idle question

When you push out the set screw, opening up the blades, you pretty much eliminate the ability of the IAC valve to control the idle. The PCM uses the IAC to prevent stalling when the blades close suddenly.

I'd reset the blades correctly, first backing it down until you have the programmed idle RPM, and the IAC counts are on the high side at 40-50. Then verify your TPS voltage is in the range of 0.20-0.90V. Did you tell your programmer that you were having stalling problems on decel? He should be able to adjust the follower tables to prevent the stalling, assuming everything else in the engine is healthy.

Re: 1/4 mile deceleration idle question

Ya, Moe Bailey did the tune and he noticed after each pull it was almost dying on him. He was trying to compensate for it and got it to not die on the dyno but it is still doing it after the burnout unless I feather it and after the run when I turn off the track unless I feather it. Even when I pull up to get my timeslip it still needs gas and often dies there.

SO... I guess I will have to put the set screw back to where it fits those parameters and mess with the tune some more.

What else could be causing this? Vaccuum leak? It seems fuel related.
