Question 0w40 or 5w30

thanks to all, learned alot about the different oils, my question is can you run 0w40 or 0w30 year round?

i have a 160 stat with the fans program to come on at 180 & 190

would this oil be ok to use in hot august summers here in chicago or should i stick with 5w30 & 10w30?

thanks
zoso

your oil cap does say fill with 5w30 right? i would stay with that. i ran 5w50 once, on someones advice, then took others advice who i trusted more and went back to 5w30. you could go 10w30 in the summertime, shouldnt hurt anything, but best choice would be 5w30 year round imo

Ditto..... Lowest I would go would be 5w-30. But you can't go wrong with 10w-30 year around.

You could certainly run 0w40 or 0w30 all year round if you want. I'm running 0w30 all year round in all of my family's cars, and have gotten excellent oil analysis results.
