I did in my old motor.

Helped the car start faster in -40 temps up here.

But I wouldn't recommend it for anyone living in warmer climates.

I know someone running Mobil 1's new 0w40 formula in his Impala SS, and he should have oil analysis results in a week or two. He has oil analysis results from his first interval with 0w40 but the wear metals were really high since he just installed an oil cooler.

I've heard very good things about Mobil 1s 0w40, it passes some pretty good European tests, and has a good HTHS number too.

There is also a very good 0w30 Castrol Syntec available in Canada now, although it's not in the US yet I believe. It's the German made Syntec, and it's a true synthetic with a PAO/ester base, not the fake group 3 hydrocracked stuff that the other Syntec uses. This 0w30 also passes some great tests such as BMW long life and the ACEA A3, which means it has an HTHS number of over 3.5, which is excellent for a 30wt oil. I bought some of this oil for my sister's car actually, and will have an analysis sometime in the late spring early summer (I'll leave it in there for 6000 miles on the first interval, then go to 9k on the second one if the first one looks good)

I wouldn't recommend Mobil 1's 0w30, it tends to thin out, and isn't made from quite the same basestock as their 0w40. Amsoil makes a very good 0w30 though, their Series 3000 stuff.
