.050 shorter pushrods

i have a set of brand new comp cams pushrods. i would really like to use them. set #7939-16. they are 7.150 long. from what i have read 7.200 is the length required for my 96 camaro. will .050 shorter make too big of a difference in geometry to even try and run a scrub test on the tip of my valves? any experiences out there about this? should i just try to sell them? cam, heads, rockers, lifters, are as new from gm. block was never decked. head gaskets are fel-pro stock replacements.

The only way you would know if they would work is to measure. If you have not done any head work or shaved the block, it is more likely that the 7.200 pushrods will be what you need, though.

I agree with Shoebox. Stock 7.200" pr's should work if you have not changed anything in the engine.

Once you change cam lift, cam base circle, valve job depth, valve length, mill heads, deck block, change head gasket thickness, change rocker arm ratios, etc, etc, it effect pr length. Just changing ONE of these will effect pr length and so most people that do a heads/cam swap just changed ALL of these and might need a 6.950 to a 7.200" depending ion everything done.

Post # 5 in this thread is a good article on checking PR length . . . .

This is actually a link to LS1 stuff and this article is useless for a LS1 using stock rockers but is good info for a LT1 or SB Chevy with stud rockers.

I have always wondered if I have the right length. Its been 20k miles since the work...so it is probably fine

.008 shaved heads
Impala HG
1.6 rockers

and 7.2 hardened pushrods... always wondered if a shorter pushrod would have been better

You measure, so you don't have to wonder.
