Remember that you can only use simulators for rear O2s on OBD-II cars. You cannot use them for front O2s.

With that said shoebox why? I understand the conection may be different but if you did hook them up what would it read on a datalogger?

Simulators are going to give a relatively static reading to satisfy the PCM. That won't be good enough for front O2s where the PCM needs split-second data to control fuel trims.

If you want to better understand what the O2 sensors are about, check out this moderator's page.

It's worth the read. There's more than just the O2 information but the living document helped me to better appreciate the sophistication of modern engines. And Honda Hunter, I think it is you that has pointed to this page in other posts. Good good stuff.

Even for the rears on a 96 I would consider simulators a waste. I would instead get the pcm reprogrammed and get the benifits of that with the money spent.

Or you could make your own for $3 - just cut the pigtail off your old O² sensor, hook it up like this, and plug it in...a sim is one resistor, and one diode.

+12v----1KΩ resistor-------X--------|>|--------Ground wire.

We have 3 wire O² sensors, check your FSM for the color code. Like the pic shows, hook the positive wire to one end, then the 1000 ohm resistor, then hook your PCM signal wire where you see the "X", then you have the 1N4001 diode, then you hook up your ground wire.

Wrap the whole mess up in tape, and plug it in.

BTW - I got this info from my buddy Eric here:http://impalassforum.com/noncgi/ulti...=000645#000000

Re: 02 simulators cheap

94-97 F-Bodys have 4-wire sensors.

One problem that some people run into with "deleting" the rear O2 sensors from the stock PCM is the fact that you get a "system not ready" message when you plug into the ALDL connector for emissions check. Some states allow one or two of the "not readies". That may make a "sim" a better choice, depending on your specific situation.
