~$3500 for forged 383 shortblock
~$3500 for forged 383 shortblock
I have an engine shop near by and I am going to have them build me a fully forged 383 short block. They quoted me at ~$3500. The block will be:
4-bolt splayed steel caps
Block fully blueprinted: bored, torque plate honed, square decked, all done with a Rottler F65 Machining center.
Fully Forged Assembly: 4340 Steel Crank, H-Beam rods, SRP Pistons, Plasma moly race rings, "H" series race bearings.
Fully balanced & blueprinted.
I want to use a Callies 3.75" dragonslayer crank with forged 5.7" Lunati I beam rods, which is more durable in a F/I application H or I beam rods? The shop said they mainly use Eagle and Scat but could use Lunati for alittle extra. I plan on running ~16psi and make ~680hp. For heads, I will buy a set of stock castings and have them worked and get them to flow ~270cfm and going to have them match ported to the intake. I also plan on having a custom ground cam for my specs.
So a side from the heads/cam does this price of ~3500 sound good for this shortblock setup?

$3500 is a good price for a quality forged shortblock.........i dont see how they can afford to keep that price with the callies crank AND lunati rods in that combo..........but if they can, thats a great deal.
