@#$^%#$% Broken Intake

It sucks when you've just finished fighting off the flu for the past 2 weeks and you go to finish up your intake leak fix and you notice that you somehow missed this. How the hell I missed that taking the intake off and cleaning the stupid thing up is beyone me.

Where's the best place to get an LT1/LT4 intake. I want to avoid junkyards if at all possible.

I wanted to bring the bird home for Christmas too . Its been a looong, sick month.

You will need LT4 heads to use the LT4 intake.

I thought you could have the LT4 intake milled to work with LT1 heads?

THat sucks man The best place for an intake would be in the "For Sale" section this board. I see LT1 intakes on there constantly. You could also check Ebay, another place that I frequently see LT1 intakes. Also, if those 2 ideas fail, I'd hit the junkyards. I don't see why you wouldn't want to go to a junkyard, an intake is a piece of cast aluminum with holes in it. There's really nothing that will be damaged by sitting in a junkyard. Plus junkyards usually keep the good stuff like that in a stockroom or something, out of the elements. Good luck with your search.

I can't see what's broken either. All I see is the slotted bolt hole, the rubber grommet for the PCV valve, a vacuum port, casting flash, .... what are we missing?

No no, wait. You're kicking yourself now. Wait till you hear this. I just threw away my LT1 intake in August when I did my L.E. Heads and LT4 intake because no one wanted it. Best part is, all I wanted was shipping. I'm not in any way rubbing that in at all (yea right ) but it should show you that it won't be too hard to find one. Best of luck with replacing it and I hope you find one

That was dumb, the aluminum alone was worth decent money at a scrap yard. They pay 50-75 cents a pound for aluminum.

WTF is that a picture of? Best I can tell is that its the place where the brake booster hose went into on the drivers side.

If you need any help, Im here and have enough tools down here to rebuild an Fbody.

Sorry for the low quality, all I have is my camera phone. Notice the non-existent aluminum around the stud.

By the time I yanked the intake off, the sun was going down down. I brought it up on the porch, cleaned it down then popped it back on the car and at least got the bolts tightened down. After that I left town to hunt/Thanksgiving then managed to get the flu so I've been away from the project for a long while. I don't know if it just didn't click in my brain or if I just didn't care . I'm usually pretty observant.

I'm just weary of buying from a junk yard for fear of getting one of the few intakes that has a screwed up casting.

Maybe it is the pic, and I'm not seeing it but...

some of those holes are slotted like that. My cars at home and I'm at work so I can't go look for ya but that looks normal to me. Yes, you can see the threads, normal. Boy I gotta go look when I get home now. Good luck.

You did torque the intake the proper way didnt you?

71in lbs for the 1st round and 35ft lbs for the second round, while tightening them in the correct sequence?

You dweeboid that notch is suppose to be in there, I just went and double checked.
