*update* 383 Le2 A4 Issue

ok seems like we got the idling issue down after messing with the throttle body we got the voltage to about .68 and the car seems to be running fine... except when you put it into any gear, turn the A/C on, turn the wheel (power steering)... then the car just hesitates and dies.. any ideas

idle too low?

In gear, a/c on, and p/s pump pulling all at the same time is alot of load..

Re: *update* 383 Le2 A4 Issue

Can you keep it alive enough to try to drive it? Sometimes it takes a bit for the car to learn its proper idle.

Clean your IAC?

Took a couple of startups for my car to keep an idle w/ the recent build, but it stays on most of the time now.

My car is running well, see this thread for mine so i don't hijack yours

Try clearing your PCM. Also, when you fire it up in Park will it at least rev up smoothly to about 3500-4k or so?

I dont know about your tune but I would set the idle through the pcm first then the idle screw.

Re: *update* 383 Le2 A4 Issue

Get your IAC counts to ~40 at hot idle and then slot your TPS so you can get it to be about .5v at closed throttle. If this isn't adjusted properly, the car will do exacly what you are describing.

Re: *update* 383 Le2 A4 Issue

Does anyone have a write-up for slotting the TPS? I think my car would die if the IAC's were in the 60's.

Re: *update* 383 Le2 A4 Issue

For slotting the TPS, take it off of the car, use some sort of a cartridge roll or grinding head on either a Dremel tool or die grinder that will fit in the original bolt holes and turn the holes into slots that maintain a constant radius from the centerline of the sensor.

For adjusting the IAC, just hook up a scanner and use the throttle adjust screw to get the counts where you want them. Then turn the engine of (KOEO) and adjust your TPS while watching the voltage on a scanner or probing the connector.
