First make sure you didn't break anything off of your oil level sensor. If not that it could be off the oil pump shaft, but not likely I don't see how it could come off without other major problems.

Could it be the oil pump coupler piece? The one that goes on the shaft?

LTs have a crank trigger (reluctor ring) behind the crank-shaft timing chain gear, but not a position sensor (4 triggers per crank revolution). The crank trigger sensor (pick-up) is in the bottom of the timing chain cover and could never get down in the oil pan. Also the pick-up is copper, not plastic.

OBDII LTx engines have a CPS. OBDI cars do not.

I don't believe they are "true" CPS's even though they may be called that, as they actually generate crank triggers (4 per revolution with the reluctor) as opposed to a true CPS with "one" position w/ magnet.

What I'm saying is there is no relucter gear for OBDI LT1 cars.

If its vanilla in color its the tip of the low oil level sensor.
