****ing misfire

finally got the header install done today. figured out a clever way to get the dipstick tube back in and all of that. i reconnected the old plug wires on the passenger side because they were a bit much for me to worry about changing when they were all still in good condition and i have them all pushed out of the way where they won't be burnt up by the header. the driver's side plug wire install was rather easy, and now they're routed out of the way of the headers...

got everything put back together, started the car... and i have a nasty *** misfire. i mean, it's ridiculous... sounds like a massive gun shot and, of course, when running straight headers, if you backfire, you get a pretty little 3 or 4 inch flame running out the back...

when i was connecting my plug wires on the driver's side... i got the 5 cylinder, 3 cylinder, and 1 cylinder all to click onto the opti. the first time i did the 7 cylinder, i didn't hear it click... so i tried to pull it back off, and the piece of metal was stuck inside the opti but the wire came out. i shoved the wire back into it, and thought it would prolly cause a misfire but i wasn't sure. i assumed when i got this misfire that that was what it was... tried to change it out... well, the same thing with the metal piece happened again. still had the misfire afterwards. i'm not sure if this is what's causing the problem or not... and i really don't know how to tell which cylinder(s) are misfiring. i guess there's a chance i could've crossed two plug wires on the passenger side... but i don't see how since only one plug wire will reach all the way to the back plug... and one is so short it only reaches the first plug... the middle two could be crossed, but i would think if they were... the 3rd plug would have a wire on it that barely reached.

i'm pretty ****ing confused, and this is pissing me off. it took long enuff for me to get a couple days off to finish this... and now i have this god damn misfire. anybody got a clue? i really need to get this fixed asap. thanx in advance.

From what I can understand, you have 1 wire on there that is bunged up, correct?
and you are not sure the plug wires are installed correctly.
First get a new wire for the mangled one and then make absolutely certain your plug wires are on right, this is not hard, a haynes manuel will tell which wire goes to which cylinder.
Make sure about your wire routing, don,t guess.
