$450 to spend on a new clutch kit, what to buy?

I'm looking to get a new clutch kit for my M6 conversion but not sure which to buy as I see alot of different brands and types for different applications. I hope to be in the 350rwhp by the time everything is installed so i'm just looking for a good clutch kit that will be OK with those #s and have a great street drivability.

Can anyone steer me to the right direction? and a place to buy one?

A friend of mine got the SLP clutch and pressure plate. He likes it a lot and says drives his car everyday (65 miles daily). He is also putting down about ~400 HP too and dont have any real slipping issues yet.

Hope that helps a little, if not mabee someone else can jump in with some more info.

Thanks,
Claude

Up to what rwhp is the OEM stock clutch rated to? I wonder if it can hold that much hp and not have any issues?

I just put my Spec stage 2 clutch in about a week ago and love it. Its rated to 475HP and it drives a lot like the stock clutch. Today I was close to the 400mile break in period so I shifted from first to 2nd gear at about 6Krpm and chirped my Nitto drs. The clutch retails for $450 but can be found for less. I paid $404 to my door.

I want to do a SLP PP and Mcleod perfomance disk combo (the 7500rpm rated one, hopefully cause it's stronger/better). I guess I'm gonna go on blind faith and do it since no one on here seems to have any experience with it or have very little opinion on it. I know Mcleod makes some good clutches so I guess I'll give it a shot. Tbyrne has some good prices too:

Just something to think about. Might even want to check into Mcleod's PP too. Good luck with the M6 conversion!!

assuming you don't drag race on sticky tires, a stock clutch is probably enough.

I'm in the same position you're in right now. I think I'm gonna go with the SLP clutch right now but I guess it doesn't come with a pilot bushing or clutch alignment tool. I can get an bushing at Autozone but I have no idea where to get an alignment tool.

By Tbyrne's website, they list the SLP PP for $250 and the Mcleod disk for $140. So that plus shipping. They also have the McLeod PP for $300 and the street disk for $100, so I might get one, either, or both instead. Who knows. I'm just biased towards McLeod b/c of their rep for building great clutches.

Just talk to someone at Autozone or Advance Auto, they can order tools and have them in a couple of days. If I remember correctly, it's Autozonce that has the free tool loan program where you can "borrow" specialty tools (leaving them a deposit, of course) and just bring it back when you're done. At which point they give you ALL of the deposit back. They may be able to help you out. Or check NAPA while you're at it, they have specialty tools also.

Ya I just looked on Autozone's website. Its under a different name "Clutch Pilot Tool" $1.99. Its made by Motormite so I looked on their website and it looked like the write tool.
