$399 Headers

Well... After reading a shload of messages about differant headers, I have finally decided on the ceramic coated shorties from Pacesetter for my 96 Z28. They are on sale from JCWhitney for $399!

Reasons:
1. I have to pass emissions.
2. They are inexpensive.
3. It would seem from reading a lot of posts on this site that Pacesetter headers are as good as BBK and Edelbrock for less money.
4. It would seem almost everybody who has them are pleased with Pacesetter's product.
5. I don't plan on ever making enough horsepower to need 1.75" primaries. (Or LT, see reason #1)
6. They should really dress it up under the hood.

I'll let you know how they work out.

I would love to put the MAC mid-length headers on. It's just that they are $700 for the 96-97 LT1! Uncle Sam doesn't pay as well as some people think.
$399 is the cheapest coated headers I can find for the Camaro. If anyone knows where I can get them cheaper let me know. Thanks.

How are they junk? Do they not fit right? Do they look like crap quickly? Don't just say they are junk, tell me why. I am a beleiver in you get what you pay for. I'm not expecting the most from the headers as far as massive performance on down the line. Now, that might change in several years but as of right now I think they will do what I want them to.

>I don't know what you do , but I have worked for "Uncle Sam" for the last 16 1/2 years and I make a pretty good paycheck .
(I am now done patting myself on the back ) .
I would recommend the Edelbrock (TES) shorties or Mac (never had them) .
I don't remember reading anything good or bad about the Pacesetters .
I went with the Edelbrock (TES) shorties now I have the Jet Hot LT and I too must pass (Massachusetts) emissions that rival California's .

Well, they are auctioning off some pacesetter headers with ypipe for 229 on ebay, coating is an extra 119. I am considering these right now, but its a money issue for me. Does anyone else have experience with this brand of header, good or bad?

BTW...

http://www.ammperformance.com/

Has the coated Pacesetter headers (PES-C1337, 96-97 LT1, Dual Cats) for $369.99. That includes shipping and handling. Pretty good deal.

everyone that I have seen purchase these headers has been happy with them. I think one person mentioned the Y-pipe didn't fit quite right, but hell on my SLP stainless steel shorties (like $650 new) the Y-pipe didn't fit right either...

You should consider used headers as well, I picked up mine uncoated for $250, I've seen coated go for between $200-$300 in the for sale section before. TNA motorsports sells new MAC headers on Ebay for pretty cheap too.
