$270 to spend.

Right now I have a dilema...

I have moroso intake and a magnaflow catback installed with 1.6 RR, hooker LTs and a mufflex 4" ypipe waiting to be installed in the spring.

Now here is my question... what should I get?
  • Tuning
  • Gears (3.73s or 3.90)
  • Custom shift boots
  • Radar detector

Remember... $270 to spend!

That's easy. Get it tuned. No question.

Next mod is gears. 3.73.

These days, with instant-on radar guns, all a radar detector will tell you is that you're about to get pulled over. Don't waste your money.

A piggy bank. When spring, springeth and the weather beckons and you start tweaking your ride with your mods before you shine er up and hit the road, you will no doubt find something to spend that $270 ( canadian?) on.

If anything, use 50 of it and pick an extra PCM---so when you do get a tune, you will have a backup, just in case.

Sorry, just wondering what kind of results I should expect for tuning a bolt-on car?

What is an M29? Just wondering, because I have an M6 and I bought a shift boot a long time ago to replace the crapy stocker (which incidently came with a small hole in it).

Yes, m29 is a RPO code for '93 F-bodies, because there were two options of gear ratios for the m6 in 93...

if you want more info, speeddensity.org will have it.

Save the money. Get and install the gears and headers. Then tune last.

Any camaro should go sideways if you punch it under 38 MPH on a flat straight road. My 97 Automatic with decent tires on my stock camaro just cold air and loudmouth if you punch it even with a fat kid with you should drop to 1st and slide for about a second or 2 then grip again. And my car has 134,000 miles and im pretty sure my autmatic is still stock just had fluid change last year when I bought it and my 3-2 sil went on the tranny thats it lol my mustang friends said they never sat in a V8 with a strong tranny and engine with the miles.

I might be wrong, my automatic might be rebuilt bec I have a 97 LT1 with cold air, and loudmouth with 134K! And my bro's friend has a 2002 with the slp cold air and loudmouth with the automatic with 73,000 miles and we were at 60 or 65 and we both punched it and I love how my car downshifts so hard and the Ls1 and LT1 were neck to neck and I started inchin and he isnt crazy like me and gave up at about 90 or 95 but I know his car would prolly catch up at around 110 then he would prolly start beatin me

If you get gears, you will need a tune anyhow for an accurate speedo reading. Therefore, I would do gears first and then a tune.

Madz28 and Pcmsforless are the two popular mail-order tuners on here. You can't go wrong with either.
