Is $250 a fair price to have my longtubes installed?

A mechanic I know said he'll do my pacesetter longtube and ypipe install for $250. Is this a fair price?

A buddy of mine just got a quote for 500 for Pacesetter LTs, so I would say its a good price. I never looked into it myself. When the day comes to put headers on my car I will do it myself, save that money and put it somewhere else in the car.

Really, really cheap. Get it in writing as a firm price before they start, because they will regret it once they get into it. They must have never worked on a 4th gen before to quote a price like that.

He's a friend of mine and is doing this as a side job. He's a very good mechanic with a good amount of experience but he's never done an fbody header install

He has a lift so that should help a lot, right?

Getting the old crap off is the longest part. I had a lift and an extra set of hands and it still took me about 10 hours. I never claim to be an expert mechanic though either. Make sure you supply him with bandaids and beer cause thats a great price!

Yep, very good price. Some shops local to me are quoting people around 600-800 to do headers and y-pipe.

If he's a friend I would say that "I think this will probably be more than 250$ of work, I'll pay $300 so theres no hard feelings if its any more work than you originally estimated"

I was originally qouted 300, ended up being 500. Make sure you get it on paper before he figures out what he got himself into

The issue is removing all the crap and then putting all the crap back in. Got to remove the steering column etc.
