$1000 Need to GO faster

I am looking at shorty headers and 3.42 gears with this camaro in sig being my daily driver. Im getting headers for 175 and i can have gears of some sort installed for 250. I dont know if this is a good combonation or if i should go in a different direction. I have $1000 that i have been saving so i dont want to blow it on the wrong stuff. I want a daily driven car in the high to mid 12elves eventually.Im also looking at some stickier tires but I dont want some tires to ware down on my way to school. I dont want a gass guzzler. Any ideas of oppinions please

Thanks Guys Max

Do you have emissions to worry about? LTs or Mid-lengths are going to be far superior to shorties.

If you can get a quality set of gears, including all of the install accessories, plus install for $250, give me that number because that is dirt cheap.

Just buying my gears and bearings was over $300. Install was cheap, I work at a gm dealership.

Get a set of 3.73 gears and jet hot LTs. With the money you might have left over you might look at an adj. fuel pressure regulator.

like alway this will make every one mad. skip all the bs and look for a used nitrous kit nothing will bet it bank for the buck an if you dont do any thing stupid it will not break any thing. dont be scared. a nos dry 5115 is the cheapest and nost idiot proof kit. a nx or a tnt will make better power but require a little more work. imho swaping gears is a bad idea in a stock 7 5/8 rear the ring and pinion are not big enough and the higher numerical gear the smaller the teeth are. if you want to go with gears find a used 3.42 stocker out of a 6 speed car. Now wait for every one to say how bottle is cheating and it is a bad idea.

I vote for coated mids or LTs and a nice 2800 RPM stall.

Mac makes a pretty good mid length header. I've got them, they aren't too bad, but I'd advise you to get the uncoated versions and have someone else coat them. That's the only real gripe I have about mine.

i had macs great price great ground clearence i bought them and then i bought lLT hooker looking back if i went with lt in the first place i would have only had to buy one set of header and only have it install one set of headers.
