Z28 bolt ons.

I have a 02 Z28 with a A4 and grrrrrrrrrrr 2:73 gears. I really don't want to mess with the gears for now, even though I know I'll eventually do it. The car only has 5,500 miles on it. I have a LS1 motorsports lid and maganaflow catback going on Firday. I am wanting to do some bolt ons for under 1,000 that will increase performance and make car stiffer. Let me know how these sound and if it is worth it or not. Would be appreciated. Or if anything else might be better. thanks

1)Smooth Bellow(not the slp one, the one without the rib)

2)Sub frame connectors(hotchkins)

3)Lower control arms(Hotchkins)

4)Tower Brace(BMR)

5)MAF(not sure which to get)

The smooth bellow i san OK mod, but nothing you'll feel. I bought a "hump hose" from an air supply company in Washington state. $12

As for the STB, SFC, and LCA .... you can get good deals on these from www.SpectacleSolutions.com He may not have the LCAs listed on his site yet, but he has them .... boxed, your choice of poly or rubber bushings.

A 3000 stall torque converter will make those 2.73's come alive!

In terms of MAF, just port and descreen the one you have. InstallUniversity.com shows you how to do it yourself for free!

I'd go with a stall and a cold air induction kit like the Supersucker. I gained a little more than 10rwhp with the Supersucker. Both of these should be good for a total of .4 off the quarter mile.

heh, my friend bought a Yank... he says it causes lotsa trouble codes and slips on the freeway sometimes. I rode w/ him on the highway once and he'll be cruisin at like 2000rpm's, it'll slip and go up to 2500 for a few seconds, then back down, lol

i'm not tryin to start anything, i could care less, but my friend and i are always just messin around pickin on each other's torque convertors.... funny thing though, today at the performance shop when i was gettin my rear put i told the dude i got a tc, he said "cool what kind? Not a yank is it?" I said no vigilante, and he said "Good, yanks blow, vigilante makes good convertors" i had to rub that in on my friend hehe

oh well it's all good

My $.02...

The MAF and bellow are a waste unless you have heads or cam. The Lid and catback will give a nice boost though. The SFC, STB will stiffen the car up. Even if you can't feel the difference much, it is good for the car's longevity. The boxed LCA's won't make much of a difference unless you're going to the strip a lot. And for all that $$$ you could just weld a plate to the bottom of your stockers and have the same result for a couple bucks.

If you're looking for handling peformance, get sway bars, springs and shocks. You can get a good package (LCAs, LCA Relocation Brackets, SFCs (weld in), Panhard Rod (Adjustable add $25), Lowering Springs, 2 pt STB) from DMS ( www.dynamicmotorsports.com ) for about $600 I think.

If you're looking for straight line performance, get a torque converter or gears. Maybe even both for around $1,000.

Lightbulb

Thanks for the info. I checked on Gears and being I have the 2:73's they said would be best to upgrade the entire rearend to make it stronger. I would have never bought a Z28 with the freeway gears, but for $18,000 fully loaded with chrome wheels, T tops, leather, every option including factory ground fx and 3,000 miles on it, it was hard to pass up. I am trying to do things to not void my factory warranty, but I may have to just void the rear end, cause I wan't at least 3:42's in it.

after you get the little things..... lid, MAF, smooth air bellow, exhaust, etc, get your computer tuned. you will tell alittle difference w/ just the bolt-ons, but you get that computer tuned and are shiftin @ 6500 R's in an auto, you will really feel it.
