z06 cam
z06 cam
i gotta 00 Z28 A4. i was thinking bout dropping in the z06 cam. is this a good cam or is there a better cam out there. im just looking for a mild cam nothing too drastic. and if there is a better cam out there that you guys recommend is there a cam out there that i can install without changing or doing too much work for the installation? thanks....
this is a little more complicated than that. Look up some threads on cam discussions or try other BB's. the Z06 cam is descent, but I believe the hot cam is bigger. The z06 is something like a 217/210 on a 117.5 lsa. i think those number are wrong, but theyre close...the lsa is right though. I just bought my new cam. its a 224/224 @.050 on a 112 lsa. the duration isnt all that big, and the 112 lsa will make more power NA and its still good with the juice. many people run the thunder racing 224/224, but this is kind of a moderate cam. id say 30-40 hp with stock heads depending on the boltons. the only thing thats holding you back is the valve springs which wont take a cam with lift over .500in. so, i bought my cam, comp 942's or 941's, titanium retainers, and 1 piece hardened pushrods and it was a little over 800 bucks at ramchargers. this cam however will probably only make about 90% of the potential of the motor, but it will lope pretty good, but still be very drivable on the street. very little if any surging and good power. id recommend this cam to anyone who isnt running a sc or turbo. anyway, theres a lot that goes into a cam, the duration, and lobe seperation are very important factors in what you want the motor to do. how you want it to idle and so on. think about it...
