Question Y Pipe Question?????

I am considering replacing my factory Y-Pipe (leaving the factory cats because of emissions) due to the flat pipe on the D.S..

1st question is would I see any kind of gains in HP with the mod's I have listed in my sig plus the new Y-Pipe. I know I won't probably, but I thought I would ask anyways.

Second, how bad would the new pipe affect my ground clearence?

My final question is will I hear a little louder exhaust note (which would be a bonus). My altimate goal would be to replace the manifolds with LT's and use a high flow cat system... but I'm sure most companies do not accept pocket lint as a trade.

Thanks in advaced for all of your responses.

WAIT and do it. the BEST Y-pipe is THE Y-PIPE THAT BEST FITS YOUR LT's!! so if you plan to replace your exhaust manis than wait and get that y-pipe when u get the headers. if you replaced it now and put the same cats back on you might see and few (1-3) hp gain.. the stock y-pipe isnt krimped THAT bad.. and i doubt it would be to too noticably diffrent sound wise :/

yeah id say dont' waste your money...it's the cats that are the main restriction in the ypipe.

just replacing the piping isn't gonna gain you anything noticable

Well..., If you're planning on doing LT's later then don't bother with an upgraded Y-pipe.

BUT, since you're concerned about emmissions then I'm guessing you won't be doing LT's ever as you cannot pass emmissions with LT's (at least here in CA).

The y-pipe will give you a slightly deeper exhaust tone and probably about 3-4hp but not worth the 200 most vendors ask for new.

Try looking for a used one, I bought mine used off another member for $50. Sounds VERY deep with my LM/Dynomouth set-up.

dont' forget you may run into clearance problems with the frame. that is the reason for the flattened pipe. my bassani pipe came 1/2" from the frame onthe driver side.

as the engine would twist on hard acceleration the pipe would bang on the frame.

i cured this with prothane poly motor mounts, which took nearly 10 hours to install.

for the cost and minimal gains..and associated problems...not worth it
