y pipe and headers

i have a 35th camaro ss and im doing some work on it. I just got the slp loudmouth and now i want to get new headers and a y pipe. I didnt know the factory y pipe was that small until i was under the car removing the older exhuast. Its an auto convertible so thats why ive been having trouble finding the headers and y pipe. price isnt too big of a deal but any recommendations would be much appreciated. thanks

Some sites also tell me that the headers will not fit auto convertibles. I could nt find a reason why unless the brace was in the way but i dint think so. A friend with t/a and another with a z28 are tellin me that the slp lt's suk. they recommend either hooker lt, QTP, or Kooks

Re: y pipe and headers

Try a search. Headers is a hot topic and covered regularly.

The Y is flat but it has the same cross sectional area of a round pipe.

Re: y pipe and headers

and headers are the same for auto/manual...as well as hardtop/ttop/vert.

so the only "options" you should have when looking at headers will be:

shorties, mids, longtubes
with emissions or without
98-00 and 01-02 (change in the emissions fittings)
coated or uncoated

Re: y pipe and headers

btw slp headers wont fit and vert A4... because of that x-brace we have under our car... but that doesnt matter because slps suck!

What are your goals for performance with this car? Some headers will get you a little extra power over others.....

I had hooker LT's on my 01 Z28 and loved them.

Re: y pipe and headers

Just go with pacesetter LT's coated with either a catted or ory-pipe depending on the emissions where you are. You will be happy with those and very happy with the price. If you want to spend alot go with either QTP or Kooks.

Re: y pipe and headers

yeah the equal length headers will show a little bit better gains than the ones that arnt... i honestly done think it matters... the only things that matter is just to make sure you get them coated so they dont rust
