Y-pipe

Talkin w/ Ken @ Thunder racing today.I was inquiring about the Mac mid headers and Y-pipe pac they have catlyst
He pretty much told me that the cats on it are just like stock not high flow.
Also it'd be a waste gettin the Mac pac,NO GAINS....WHAT? Same as JBA too.

Also says our(stock F-bod) Y's are NOT restrictive, dont' replace NO GAIN.

Can anyone support this or what,I'm a least a little now.And am pretty much in need of a new plan I guess?? I know the Random will be high flow but I want to get a Y that will bolt up to some headers that are good later, you know not waste$$ on something that wont be compatible later w/ good headers.

i used to run a dyno.. replacing the y-pipe with stock exhaust manifolds isnt worth a thing..yet people throw their oney way on the slp pipe and such.

take the cats off and it helps... high flow cats do very little.

people are quick to point out the "crushed" pipe on the factory Y. however the inside flow area is still the same

Knowledge is appreciated TA.I plan to go w/ headers eventually. The reason I was iquiring on the Mac mid length headers w/ the Y-pipe was that it was a set and reasonably cheap in one swoop no piecing,or waiting. But no gain just astetic, forget about it.
He did say the FLP set w/Y($1200) was good hp gain. I gather the long tube headers w/ the high flow catlyst Y is where it's at?
