Xpiped True Duals......or keep the GMMG?

My bro is in need of a catback for his bird......and i was thinkin of givin him the GMMG as long as he bought me True Duals dumped before the axle which would be cheaper for him.

My mods to date are.......FLP LT headers w/ORY through the GMMG. Along with the SLP Flowpac and thats pretty much it. How much louder would the true duals be dumped before the axle........right now i don't have a problem with the cops, i can be quiet when i need to be. The drone isn't that bad either, never bothers me. I know the X Pipe would also be better performance-wise and mostlikely sound better too. Should i do it? Will i be able to be quiet when i need to be?

And anybody with a link to a website that has the bassani true duals over the axle..........i want a link, was thinkin bout it....not sure yet though.

with that ORY a pre-axle with the standard bullets would be pretty unbearable i'd imagine. Borla makes a racing muffler, an xl-1 or rl-1 or something. They tend to sound much better with an ORY.

It would definetly flow better, sound would be touch and go.

I think ur thinkin of the XR-1.......i was thinkin the sweet thunders would sound good since thats whats on my GMMG i believe. Still think it might be too loud. The GMMG is quiet enough as long as i keep under 2k rpm when i see cops. And i need to decide in a couple days so my bro can order his new exhaust or so he can take mine and buy me one.

XR-1 that's it. Well i would go ahead and do it with those chambered ones if he's paying for it. You could never get a better catback, sound you can always deal with later.

If you want true duals, go for it! You will absolutley LOVE not having that 2000-2400 rpm and the higher rpm WOT rasp that a Y pipe setup gives. I'll never go Y pipe again now that I have mine, I'm sure you'll feel the same way

Watch the internal diameter on stick mufflers. Many of them neck down 1/4".

Personally, I'd go duals out the back. Not into smelling exhaust when sitting in traffic. Even if you go turn downs, you could add some resonators to kill some noise if its too loud, or even torn the tips out to the sides to kill some interior noise.

Do a search for the bassani true dual. mrr23 posted a dyno of it vs a Borla. There was a nice gain. The 3" pipe is only 1/4" larger than stock. The LS1 needs more diameter than that.

Cut out everything from the headers to the y-pipe in the gmmg. Then, run straight 2.5 pipes off your headers, into an X or H pipe, over the axle and connect them to the gmmg pipes in the rear. Sweet sounding true dual gmmg!
