Just because they changed your oil doesnt mean they reset your oil sensor. Hold down your reset stick , you know the thing sticking out of the plastic right in front of you . You need to hold that in for at least 10 sec for it to reset the oil change light . It also explains it in detail in your owners manual .

Good luck

Rob

Re: WTF!! Change Oil Light

Could be the sensor is messed up. Turning the key on to the run position (point where power accesories are turned on) and tapping the gas 3 times is the way I do it. The odometer way doesn't work as well for me for some reason.

Read the manual You dont tap the gas 3 times , you turn the key from start to run 3 times . Something like that .

You love the manual so much why don't you marry it.

My way is a common way among many cars and isn't in the manual.

I think were misunderstanding each other . Im trying to help you . When you say " tap the gas " do you mean turn the motor over ??

Re: WTF!! Change Oil Light

No you don't turn the engine on. You turn on the power (key position BEFORE ignition) then tap the gas three times.

OK , last question . Could you explain how tapping the gas helps ? Maybe for good luck ? You have to hold in the odometer lever in to reset the oil change light . Its a feature in the newer camaro models . It trys to tell you when to change the oil . Based on conditions then car goes through with the sensors in the car go then they go to the computer . And then you had an advanced idiot light

Re: WTF!! Change Oil Light

Like I said I have had better experiences doing it this way. My change oil light comes back on after a drive or two when I do it the other way. I mentioned this other way in case the oil change people did reset his change oil light but it came on already. Also, this is a common way so it might be easier in the long run.

there's more then one way to skin a car jackass. Why don't you just learn from what others say and be done with it instead of arguing about something that obviously doesn't affect you.

Page 6-17 in your owner's manual:
How to Reset the Oil Change Light

After changing the engine oil, the system must be reset.
With the ignition key in RUN with the engine turned off,
push the TRIP/OIL RESET button located on the
instrument panel for 12 seconds. The OIL CHANGE light
will start to flash to confirm that the system is reset. The
reset is complete when the OIL CHANGE light goes out.

Re: WTF!! Change Oil Light

just fix is perminatly. Take the gague cluster out and take the light out that lights up the change oil light. And never have to worry about that dumb thing again. If you need some light to tell you when to change your oil you don't need to be driving a car in the frist place. Just my $.02
