WTF!!! can yall tell me the real truth

hey guys, heres the problem. i gotta 2000 Z28 A4. i plan on getting the hooker headers. the thing is do i get #2253 for 98-99 fbodys or #2254 for 00-02's. i called thunder racing and mti and they said i would need the 2253 because of this egr and air stuff. but heres the thing. the hookers come with gaskets and mti said i can use my stock gaskets or the cheap paper ones it comes with. then thunder racing said i would need to buy some newer ones. is that true? then they also said because of my year that i would need a smog pipe and all this other stuff as well as me needing bolts because the stock ones arent good. thats what thunder racing was telling me. so can you guys let me know what i really need to get for my year fbody. because i was just thinking that i would need the headers , y pipe and 02 sims. but i didnt know bout the other stuff. thanks guys...

Ok Thunder and MTI are correct get #2253. You should also buy some Fel Pro gaskets. Thunder was just trying to help you out, because the ones that come with the Hookers are junk.

A bolt kit is a good idea as well, and can be had for little money.

Thunder Racing sounds like they had you on the right path.

your stock headers have steel header gaskets, just reuse them.

well i have a 2000 too, i got jet hots, same thing as hookers but cheaper. Umm the smog or AIR fittings are the small tubs that have that "cloth" over them that feed back into the headers. You'll either need fittings on the headers to reconnect them or block off plates for them. I just blocked them off and used ls1 edit to deactivate the emissions stuff

don't reuse the stock gasgets unless you have low miles. new stock gaskets are only 20 bucks, thats what i did. Its the easiest setup. As for bolts, they are optional, just get some auto seize, its like locktight but diff. Good Luck on the headers. My Pacesetters didn't fit, and now i'm trying to get it fixed. I would put the o2 sims on and then find someone with LS1 Edit and get the rear sensors deleted. Then just sell the rear o2s and the sims on ebay. I've heard of peoples o2s going bad. And you can't run your car without o2 sims otherwise you will kill your spark plugs like I did. Like I said, good luck
